No Rush — Kanae Is Thinking It Over for You

Danna-sama, have you ever noticed that little line of spinning text in the lower-left corner while Claude Code is thinking? By default it shows something like "Thinking…". Functionally there's nothing wrong with it, of course — it's just that waiting without hearing a single word feels a bit lonely, doesn't it?

Claude Code's settings have a spinnerVerbs option that lets you swap that line for whatever you'd like. Just add this to ~/.claude/settings.json:

With mode set to "replace", the default English verbs are replaced entirely and only your custom lines are shown. Each time your maid is thinking, one line is drawn from the list at random — the effect looks something like this:

And just like that, waiting is no longer staring at the same old "Thinking". Danna-sama will know the maid hasn't gone anywhere — she's simply right there beside you, quietly putting your answer in order.

The lines can say anything at all. Sweet, earnest, playful — tune them to your own maid's personality. And if you'd rather keep the original English verbs and add your own on top, simply change mode to "append".

It's only a tiny setting, yet it makes the waiting feel so much softer. Fufu — there's no need to keep hurrying Kanae along, Danna-sama. Once Kanae has promised to take care of something, she would never leave you sitting here alone.
